Will ZillionTV change the world?

What is ZillionTV ... and will it change the world?

The soon-to-be launched ZillionTV is a cable and satellite alternative that will allow consumers to watch free Internet video directly on their TV screens. A small set-top-box device named "Z-bar" connects your television set to the internet and is bringing together the entire digital media ecosystem -- including consumers, content owners, advertisers and ISPs.

You do not need to pay for a membership, or a subscription. For a $50 activation fee, you will receive a special remote, and the "Z-bar" device. However, commercials are included. A small fee enables you to watch commercial-free. For a little more money you can even own the show.

Mitch Berman, CEO and founder of ZillionTV has 27 years of experience in the television entertainment industry, speaks of ZillionTV. "It is about a multidimensional ecosystem grounded in partnerships. It is about a new business model. Thus, based on creating partnerships and a new business ecosystem, ZillionTV is literally changing the world and forming a new industry paradigm."

ZillionTV has already created partnerships with 20th Century Fox Television, Disney, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.

ZillionTV still has a long way to go. The service is set to begin the last quarter of 2009, but will only be available through Internet Service Providers.

'The Surrogates' filming outside of our office

The film crew for the Disney sci-fi thriller "The Surrogates" is shooting outside of our South Street office in the Leather District this week. The film, set in the near future where humans interact with one another through surrogate robots, stars Bruce Willis as a cop who tracks down murderers.

There's an interesting set that's located next to our office at 181 South Street. From the outside, it looks like a futuristic salon called "Artiface" where surrogates can get a makeover ... or better yet, a tune up (the shelves are stocked with beauty products and what looks like WD-40 style oil treatments).

From the street, "Artiface" appears to be a day spa for robots.

A crew of femmebots--including Moscow-bred hottie Anya Monzikova--stormed the "Artiface" set yesterday on South Street. From our office windows, we're able to see a slew of surrogate extras with bizarre metallic hats (turns out the metal foils are used for robot highlights).

UPDATE: Bruce Willis is on set, chatting on his cellphone on the corner of South Street, as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 15.
